Aireys Inlet, while famous for its lighthouse, also holds a wilder, more ancient beauty along its lesser-known stretches of coastline. On a remarkably clear night, away from the glow of artificial lights, I set out to capture the Milky Way against the dramatic coastal landscape. I discovered this particular stretch of beach where weathered rock formations punctuate the shoreline, sculpted by millennia of ocean tides. As the long exposure captured the vast sweep of our galaxy above, the slow movement of the waves around the rocks transformed the water into a soft, ethereal mist, creating an otherworldly connection between the earthly and the celestial. The air was cool, the only sound the gentle lapping of the ocean, and overhead, millions of stars felt incredibly close. It was a profound reminder of our place within the universe, a moment of deep quietude and immense wonder.
